Q: I recently bought Rock Band 2 for my Wii system and I was kind of sick of having it try to connect to the internet everytime I wanted to play quickplay. So I was interested in buying a Wii LAN adapter that allows you to connect to the internet. I read reviews and all were raving about it and it seemed like a snag! From what I know it comes with a little white box (the adapter) with a little 10 inch cord with a USB end that connects to the back of the Wii, and a 6 foot patch cable that connects to a modem or router. I personally have a laptop, and my whole family runs on a wireless router downstairs in the basement on a PC. That is a regular computer with a tower and monitor otherwise we have about 6 laptops that wirelessly connect to the router. My sister, my father’s, and mine all run on vista and are all samsung laptops. So I was wondering if I connected the patch cable to my laptop it would still work the same? Thanks!
A: You might be able to connect wirelessly using the same connections your laptops are using. Judging by why you’re asking this, you’ve probably tried that, but it didn’t work because you don’t have a compatible router, or something. I don’t think you can use the internet with a LAN cable to the laptop. You may have to connect directly to the broadcasting source. I would keep trying to get a wireless signal.
