Power Rack Mount
January 2nd, 2010When consumers hear the word refurbished, they may instantly think of equipment that is used, taken apart, put back together, and resold. In some cases this may be the case, but the definition of refurbished in the world of server equipment and racks, is far more broad. It is not only possible but likely that these server racks will be as high in quality and perhaps more advanced than similar new products. As businesses tighten their budgets and spend wisely, there is growing popularity in refurbished IT equipment.
The product you buy may say “refurbished server equipment” but may or may not be used. If a new rack is purchased, then returned, it will be sent to the factory, inspected, repackaged, and sold again at a discount. If any defects were found, they are repaired at that time. Even if the shipping caused any damages to the box, the equipment is returned, opened, examined and labeled refurbished. Small cosmetic issues, such as a scratch, that in no way effects the functioning of the product, may lead to a factory return and a lower cost for you, the end consumer. Your quality remains the same while the price is decreased.
Sometimes the server equipment available is in fact used, but has been repaired to function as new. Certainly, with many goods, once they are used, the quality is decreased to some degree. Traditionally, only the largest IT enterprises were utilizing server storage equipment.
